The Challenge For Softech
The Indian government launched “Mission Electrification” aiming to electrify the entire broad-gauge rail network of approx. 65,300 RKM to enhance energy efficiency and sustainability by 31st March 2024. This gained momentum from 2017 onwards with the target of electrifying approximately 4000 Km of track annually:
No established processes, procedures, and methodology
- Lack of cross-functional integration
- Scarcity of experienced Design engineers
- Tight timelines.
- Dynamic layouts with evolving infrastructure across departments.
Softech’s Solution
Softech adopted a meticulously crafted methodology that aligned with the unique requirements of the electrification project. The process commenced with exhaustive walkout surveys, conducted by seasoned site surveyors, to gather accurate and detailed data.

- We delivered over 3,100 Km of OCS Design, Installation and Testing for Indian Railway on many lines.
- Comprehensive walkout surveys for a vast stretch of 3100 kms.
- Approximately 35% OLE design of India was done by Softech.
- Performed complex calculations.
