Under the government’s Access for All (AfA) programme, aimed at enhancing station’s accessibility, Barnes station was required to facilitate with the provision of step-free access, particularly benefiting passengers with reduced mobility, young children in prams, or those laden with luggage. A critical component of this endeavour was ensuring an unobstructed and obstacle-free ‘accessible route’ at Barnes station within the Network Rail controlled infrastructure.
