Project Overview

Lewes railway station located between Haywards Heath and Eastbourne were seeking to improve journey time for passengers on the 8 car Eastbourne to Ore portion of a train which was splitting at Lewes station Platform 1. The Other 4 car portion of the train destined to Seaford, departed first but was not able to make full use of its early departure as it was delayed in the Newhaven area.

This scheme was proposed to have 8 car long Eastbourne portion of train to depart first (4 minutes earlier) and the shorter 4 car portion, later, to Seaford.

All options were studied in detail and option selection report was prepared along with the Sketches during GRIP stage 3 stating pros and cons of all considered options.
