Project Overview

As per National Level Crossing Delivery Team (NLCDT) remit, few of the Level Crossing were identified which were life expired and needed renewal and the degraded condition of the control equipment wiring made it increasingly difficult to maintain the crossing in a safe operational condition.

Following existing Level Crossing were identified for renewal by the RAM:
1. Horton Road situated on the Gloucester, Barnwood junction to Severn Tunnel route.
2. Alstone crossing located on Barnt Green to Westerleigh junction via Dunhamstead route.
3. Henwick and Newlands East, located on Worcester Shrub Hill to Shelwick Junction Route.

This project was undertaken by Softech to develop GRIP stage 4 single option development works for mentioned Level Crossings which were life expired with obsolete barrier machines, resulting in LC becoming increasingly unreliable and difficult to maintain due to lack of spares.
This work included designing of control tables, Location Area Plan (LAP) and other GRIP stage 4 deliverables.
