The Earlestown Journey Time Improvement scheme encompasses package of works to achieve reduction in journey time to 30minutes between Liverpool and Manchester Oxford Road via Chat Moss from 43 Minutes.
Objective of this scheme was to produce the design showing Signalling modifications necessary to achieve the new line speed of 90mph with minimum changes to Signalling and Layout.
Detailed Study report was produced in GRIP stage 3 and Final option was developed in GRIP stage 4 along with the Scheme plan and other supporting documents.

The scheme included repositioning of Signal/TPWS/AWS, Recovery/renewal of points, Track layout changes and provision of sliding buffer stop/new track circuits. Few of the existing Non-Compliances were also addressed during the production of design.
